Outdoor Fireplace

Common Questions

Will I need to get permission from the Council?
A. It depends on which fire you chose. It is best to check with your local council. Tell them you are building an "Outdoor Masonry BBQ".

Whom obtains consent if I need it?
A. Either yourself or your  installer.

What payment methods do you accept?
A. Direct Credit, Cheque, Cash or Bank Cheque.

Can I pay by Installments?
A. Yes, we can do over 3 months but this requires prior approval and will attract an interest portion.

Who do I get to install it?
A.  Anyone who has some building experience. It is a very simple straight forward process.

Does Flare Fires install?
A.  Yes we can do in the BOP. We do have trained installers in other areas of New Zealand too.

Is the fireplace covered by Insurance in Transit?
A.  Yes.

Will the weight of the Fireplace & truck damage my driveway?
A. We have never had any problems with this, although care should always be taken.

If I wish to pick up my Fireplace where is the collection point?
A. Our depot is 17 a George Street, Te Puke, Otherwise if Toll Networks is used to ship to your area pick up will be their local depot.

Can you custom-design something for me?
A.  As long as we use our standard modulars we can work with you to custom design your own look.

Can this fire place be put on a wooden deck?
A. Depends on which design you want as they vary in weight but usually a wooden deck would not be strong enough to hold a concrete fire place. In some cases it is suitable to build up a concrete pedestal to the deck height and then place the fire place on that.

Can these be craned over a house in to difficult to reach locations?
A.  Yes this is a very common occurrence. Because of the modular design the maximum weight of any one piece is 650kg, so an average crane or large Hiab can lift the modules 20-40 meters into your property. Your next question will be but isn’t that really expensive ? Cranes vary in price from $150 - $300+ per hour but installation should only take ½ -1 hr depending on the fire place model. So at the end of the day it is often the most cost effective & simplest way to go.

Can a fire place be placed on a existing concrete area?
A.  Yes

Should I opt for a wood or gas-fuelled fireplace?
A. Wood has a lot more ambiance and a wider variey of uses.  Gas is good if the area is small or enclosed or if fire restrictions are in place.

Can you cook Pizzas on the fire place?
A.  Yes, using hot rocks. See cooking outdoor page.
